As I was walking through the dera on my way to Darbar Sahib, I saw an old person. By the time I was praying in Darbar Sahib, the thought came to me, “That person won’t live much longer. Then that problem we had with him will go away.” As soon as I noticed that thought, I became very ashamed and prayed for his long and healthy life. Maharaj caught me nonetheless. He immediately said, “Don’t hope that problems will go away. Problems are like Hydras. Pray instead for the strength and blessings to face the problems.” From the dictionary, I learned what a Hydra is: a 9-headed monster in Greek mythology. When one of its heads is cut off, two more grow in its place.
