After a powerful talk this afternoon to members of the Hindi press about the oneness of religions, as opposed to divisive politics, tonight Maharaj speaks to two visitors from Punjab plus close associates. He observes,
Truth is such that people cannot tolerate it. They will say, “Who are you to say this?” We should speak that which Guru Gobind Singh said. So long as a person acts from his ego in a situation, there will be conflict. Rather, keep God in every breath. The more people whom you tell that there is one enlightened wisdom, one dharma, the better. God is very powerful.
Crores of years ago when there was nothing, even then God was there, alone. The guru says He wanted someone to speak to, so He said “Om” or “Kun!” and it was. He created because He was not happy without this drama.
May God give us good thinking, because every second we are slipping. Guru Granth Sahib says, “One who conquers his mind conquers the world.” If the sample is not good, there will be no demand for the supply. Dharma will spread through good samples. Christians, for instance, gave good examples by going to the jungles and offering health care and education. There are very few good examples in our world these days.
When a dervish goes to the jungle, it is because the trees and animals are longing for his healing presence. Pilgrimages to holy places were appropriate in previous ages. Now in Kali Yuga, the Guru says, the only effective spiritual practice is praise of God’s Name. If you go on a pilgrimage now, filth will stick to you.
Whenever you have time, it is good to spend it speaking of Gurus. Share with your neighbour the enlightened wisdom that has come to you. Feel that “Nothing is mine; it is all Yours.”
One of the guests asks for enlightened wisdom, saying that he has none to share. Maharaj tells him,
Gian [enlightenment] has its own magnetism. Guru Ram Das said, “Others have such good qualities, but I don’t know how to please Him. ‘The bride may be hunch-backed and short, but if she is loved by her Lord Master, she melts in the Lord’s embrace.’” With Nam, there is light brighter than crores of suns.
Those who speak of God and who share everything with the public are very fortunate.
