3 April 1998 – Improving Gurdwara management

Six members of the new gurdwara management committee suggested by Maharaj ji, including its President, General Secretary and a school headmaster, have come to see him. He asks how their meeting was. They report, “There has never been such a good meeting in the history of the committee!” He tells them,

We all want Sikh heads to rise. The more we admire the Gurus, the more we will be admired. Wherever Sikhs go, they are at a high level.

Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, one of the new members, reports that new schools are being started. He says, “It’s all by Maharaj ji’s blessings.”

            Maharaj says,

Our base is dharma. For that the Gurus came, spoke, and sacrificed. How can society be improved? Through dharma. The Gurus linked dharma with hard work. The Gurus are unique, whereas there are crores of people. Guru Teg Bahadur gave his head to protect freedom of religion of Hindus. Then Guru Gobind Singh made Sikhs so visible—with long hair, turban, kirpan, etc.—that they can’t hide in fear.
