May 9, 1998 – Time to demonstrate religion

Bhupinder Singh Siddhu, Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission, has come. Maharaj greets this devotee with love and says to him,

No one is happy because the mind is sick. If the mind is fearless, said Kabir, “Ham kol ek Murari”—(Krishna is with me) . He is stronger than anyone. One who has faith in God has no worry or fear, only bliss.

Guru Gobind Singh showed how to do everything and sacrifice everything. He laughed as his children were sacrificed, saying they were returning to their grandmother.

Managers have made a wall around religion in Sikhism, but if it were opened, even stones would be intoxicated by its taste. Guru Nanak said to share everything. If we did, how could there be poverty? He said there is one Father, and we are all His children. The Guru said not to intimidate or be afraid of anyone. After a short time, Guru Gobind Singh’s mission will travel to the world.

Guru Gobind Singh saw God pervading in the whole creation. What is the place for symbols? Symbols are everything, but there is little of dharma, which is what is needed. Guru Gobind Singh told the qualities of Khalsa, such as forsaking anger and criticism. He said that even if you look at someone with bad thoughts, you shouldn’t consider yourself Khalsa. With such principles, we could become very strong. If we had justice and desire to serve, we would be inwardly happy.

This is not the time to talk about religion, but to demonstrate it. We have to decide whether we are to receive from God or from people.

One doesn’t become Guru Gobind Singh’s Sikh by tying a turban but by helping people. It is the responsibility of us all to have faith in dharma and to spread Guru Gobind Singh’s message.
