Udita Panconcelli from Germany, doctor and supporter of interfaith events, has been injured in a bad accident, but she found God in that experience. In response to her letter, Maharaj sends her words of encouragement:
Whatever difficulty or suffering or love come—whatever experience brings great attraction toward God—understand that as God’s way of giving you a gift. In that difficulty, with the thought of God, a guardian angel saved you. This is the luckiest time of your life. As it is written in the evening prayer by Guru Nanak, “Suffering is the medicine, pleasure the disease, for when there is indulgence in pleasure there is no devotion to God.”
Never mind. Your faith is very strong and hardworking; you will rise again. Some day you will forget this struggle in your life. Don’t leave this place of love. Actually, this is the proof of love—that one feels it in the midst of difficulties.
We can say that Jesus always lived with great love. During the crucifixion, he had no enmity. He was the friend of enemies, whom he understood as friends, and blessed those who were crucifying him. I say to you that if this love remains in you amidst your sufferings, it is God’s way of teaching and training you. There is no doubt in this.
This is a very powerful period in the world. But perhaps its result will be very good. Perhaps God has chosen this path to send His love to the world.
Sometimes people get the idea that if they get a good house or car, they won’t be worried, or if they get good food, good job, or good position that will bring happiness. But God chose a very good method. He had given all these good things, but even so people weren’t happy. Why? He knows that no one wants those things in which true happiness lies. All have hunger for material things. But perhaps when people encounter difficulties, they meet the happiness they want—His peace, His joy.
We know that nothing is outside God’s control. We also have faith that when He chooses, there will be love, faith, and seva everywhere. Now is a time that we really need them. Such a pressure-filled period cannot remain. When our worldly father sees us in difficulties, he does whatever is in his power and love to try to remove them. Similarly, in all difficulties, our spiritual Father lovingly and compassionately lifts us up because we are His family, His children. Whether we are worthy or not, He knows, “They are Mine.”
Wait for that day. These difficulties will not last. A good day is coming. Maintain your loving thoughts. Suppress thoughts of anger, of ego, of hurting others. They are not good for us or for others.
If we take our little love and attach it to God’s great Love, we will get such great Love that we cannot imagine. As when it rains, little drops of water make an ocean, thus our small love meeting that great Love makes a whole ocean of love.
If good thoughts come to you, understand that we ourselves don’t know. These are very beautiful and loving gifts from God. Always think of God. Keep your mind clean and faithful. He will keep blessing and we will keep receiving.
May God bless you, give you His happiness, His love. You can share that Love and the happiness that He will give you with others. The more you share that love and happiness, the more they will grow. There is no limit to them. In His happiness, laugh, sing, dance, and enjoy.
We will always need happiness, love, and faith. Now He keeps giving and we keep receiving. He is our Father; we are His family. But understand that innocence is good for receiving His Love. There is great love and peace in His giving; there is no peace or happiness in worldly things.
